The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) says that at approximately 9.15 this morning, the L21 Transmission Line that connects to Power Ship 1 tripped, resulting in the loss of 29 Megawatts of power. This led to service interruptions in East and West Berbice and affected several feeders in Demerara.
“Our teams immediately commenced restoration efforts, and all areas were repowered at approximately 10:00 hrs.
“An investigation is being conducted to determine the root cause of the trip.
“Our company continues to work assiduously to prevent interruptions of this nature. We extend our sincerest apologies to our customers for the inconvenience caused.”
