Nigel Shepherd, a 24-year-old resident of Unity, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, was arrested on May 25th, 2025 and charged on May 27th with the offence of assaulting a peace officer.
Shepherd is accused of assaulting Matthew Rose, a Detective Corporal from the Vigilance Police Station.
The defendant appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce. He pleaded not guilty and was placed on $20,000 bail. The matter was adjourned to July 3rd, 2025.
