Carty, Joseph climb ODI Rankings despite Windies whitewash by England

(SportsMax) West Indies duo Keacy Carty and Alzarri Joseph have made notable strides in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings, even as the Caribbean side endured a 3-0 series defeat to England.

Carty, who compiled 154 runs across the three-match series, including a fluent century in Cardiff, surged to a career-best 12th position in the batting rankings. His move to 659 ranking points places him just one point behind Captain Shai Hope, who remains the highest-ranked West Indian batter in 11th place (660 points).

Sherfane Rutherford, who impressed with a counterattacking 71-ball 70 in the final ODI, dipped one place to 33rd (579 points) but remains the third West Indian inside the top 50.

Joseph, the pace spearhead, also saw an uptick in his ranking, climbing nine spots to 18th following a seven-wicket haul during the series. He now boasts 574 ranking points, making him the second-highest ranked West Indies bowler behind Gudakesh Motie, who slipped five places to 16th on 579 points. Joseph and Motie remain the only Caribbean bowlers inside the top 50, with Jayden Seales next best in 57th (456 points).

The latest update was headlined by England’s dominance, following their commanding 3-0 series sweep over the West Indies. Joe Root, who amassed 266 runs, including a masterful unbeaten 166 in Cardiff, jumped 14 places to 24th in the batting charts. Ben Duckett, who inched up three places to 17th, and Harry Brook, up 15 places to 48th, also gained from strong series performances.

On the bowling side, Adil Rashid climbed four spots to 15th after collecting nine wickets, while Saqib Mahmood surged a staggering 82 places to 48th, thanks to his eight-wicket return.

Elsewhere, Pakistan’s Mohammad Haris made the biggest individual leap across formats after his scintillating performance in the 3-0 T20I sweep of Bangladesh. Haris, who scored 179 runs and was named Player of the Series, rocketed 210 places to a career-best 30th in the T20I batting rankings.

His teammates also enjoyed a rankings boost, as Hasan Nawaz rose 57 places to joint-45th after tallying 121 runs and Saim Ayub moved up four places to 61st. Abbas Afridi climbed 18 spots to joint-19th among bowlers, while leg-spinners Shadab Khan and Abrar Ahmed made significant strides, sitting at joint-59th after moving up 24 and 45 places, respectively.

On the Bangladesh side, Tanzid Hasan, their top scorer with 106 runs, improved 28 places to 53rd, while Jakar Ali inched up from 71st to 68th.
