Two men, Shawn Lindie, and Shawn Lindie Junior – an uncle and nephew- breathed a sigh of relief when Magistrate Rushelle Liverpool presiding over the Kwakwani Magistrate’s Court yesterday dismissed the charges filed by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) against the two for trafficking over 1,580 pounds of marijuana at De Veldt Berbice River, on March 26, 2022, a release from the Lindies stated.
CANU was represented by attorney-at-law, De Jonna Nelson, while the Lindies were represented by attorney-at-law Siand Dhurjon.
The court heard that on midnight on March 25, 2022, a major joint maritime operation was conducted by the Guyana Defence Force Coast Guard and CANU. Heavily-armed operatives breached the doors of a home occupied by the Lindies, Durante Massiah and another individual.
